The PLA Blog | Official Blog of the Public Library Association

Hi All:

I wanted to let everyone know about the project myself and my team mates put together to help librarians from all types of libraries plan and organize their next Staff Development Days.  I am an Emerging Leader (or I suppose I should say “Emerged Leader” as I have graduated with my peers) and our group worked real hard these past six  months putting together a training wiki of resources and links for putting together a Staff Development Day — we included many categories for training such as Technology Training, Children & Teens, Team Building, Customer Service, Divserity, etc.   The resource is of course free and available to everyone.  The URL is http://librarystaffdevelopment.wikispaces.com/

This was a two-year project in that a previous EL sent our surveys to librarians around the world and collected the data in a spreadsheet.  Our group took the data, flushed it out, supplemented and organized the information to create the wiki.  We are very happy to market this to all librarians so you can hoepfully use to plan your next staff days.

If you have suggestions or questions regarding our project, please feel free to email me at
