Registration is now open for the next session, July 5–Aug. 8, of Turning the Page 2.0, a free, comprehensive advocacy training program, developed and presented by the Public Library Association (PLA) with generous support from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Turning the Page 2.0 will be offered four additional times through 2011 and 2012. The full schedule with registration dates is available here.

Turning the Page 2.0 addresses core issues of advocacy, communications and relationship building in a convenient blended-learning format including an in-person, optional kick-off, weekly one-hour webinars, development of an Advocacy Work Plan and personalized feedback from facilitators. Highly interactive units cover topics such as creating and telling your librhttp://plablog.org/2011/05/online-registration-opens-for-the-summer-session-of-pla%e2%80%99s-free-public-library-advocacy-education-program.htmlary story, building relationships with key decision makers, project management and making the all-important ask.

Participants should expect to spend about three hours per week on this program. A certificate of completion will be awarded following the submission of an Advocacy Work Plan. The upcoming July-Aug session will begin with an optional, in-person kick-off on June 24 at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans. Registration for this preconference is free; however overall conference registration rates apply. Participants must register for the in-person event separately from the online portion of the program. Registration for Turning the Page 2.0 is open to all public librarians, library staff, and library supporters, including board members, Friends and local officials. Libraries are encouraged to complete Turning the Page 2.0 with an advocacy team that works through the program together. For more information about the program, please email .
