Well, the first day of boot camp has finished! As most might also have the same outcome, I’m sure I gained a few pounds. The food (breakfast, lunch, snacks and a reception this evening) was plentiful, plus we were sitting down all day – how many of us actually sit at our desk all day??!! We have 77 participants this year – I had no idea it would be this big! Sandra (Nelson) and June (Garcia) did a great job presenting and keeping us all on track. The description of the boot camp indicates “Intensive Library Management Training” – and boy they weren’t kidding! The extra few pounds could also be the amount of information I took in (yeah, that’s it, I’m sure it had nothing to do with the chocolate chip cookies!). Often times with conferences, workshops and seminars I take in so much information that it is hard to process it all and I usually have to decompress when I return home. I don’t think that will be different this time. I will leave you tonight with a great tip though – I think it will become even more and more important nowadays. I hope that I’m paraphrasing Sandra correctly in saying “If you know what your priorities are, you can handle things and meet your needs in good times and bad”.
