Hello Cleveland!

PLA Results BootCamp 2008 starts tomorrow morning bright and early at 8:00 AM. Its going to be a grueling week of library management training, but I was promised that I wouldn’t have to do any pushups. Based on that I’d say things are looking pretty positive. Cleveland is a great city! I got to wander around a little bit this afternoon. Have a look at the “Fountain of Eternal Life” a World War II memorial sculpted by Marshall Fredericks.

I’m hoping to find some other treasures this week as long as I’m not too sore, bruised, and battered after BootCamp.

I spent the past couple of days in Pittsburgh, PA. I told you all that I’d take pics if I hit any libraries on the way to Cleveland, and I’m a man of my word. How could I resist dropping by the Main (Oakland) branch of the Carnegie Library? It was an absolutely amazing facility. I was sooooo mad I didn’t have my laptop so that I could snag all of the amazing box sets they had of old country and hillbilly music. Totally incredible collection. I’d love to show everyone pics of the interior, but when I started photographing a big burly security man firmly told me no taking pics in the library, and since this guy could have crushed me between his thumb and forefinger without breaking a sweat, I decided to leave well enough alone.

OK- no more funtalk. BootCamp begins. Tomorrow’s agenda: Strategic Planning for Results. Should be good stuff. Not sure if myself and the other bloggers will be writing in realtime or if we’ll be posting at the end of the day, but I’ll definitely be tweeting as will some others, so keep an eye on this url to follow all #placamp08 tweets.
