Jolly Huntsmen Polka band

Jolly Huntsmen Polka band

The exhibit hall opened this afternoon. I enjoyed the polka music. We don’t hear much of that around Seattle. The Jolly Huntsmen — The tuba, the lederhosen. Well!

Today I met with several other Children’s Services administrator types from around the country. We shared ideas about next steps now that our librarians have been trained withPLA & ALSC’s Every Child Ready to Read. It was very interesting to learn what other library systems are doing with Early Literacy. One of the things that I really enjoy is finding out how many ways there are to Do It Right!

Tomorrow I am looking forward to the Crouching Tigers, Reading Dragons session — this is an amazing and effective reading program that we have been doing in Seattle for the last 13 years. If you can make the session and have any interest in youth services, I recommend the session.
