PR Day

June 24th, 2007 by Peggy Carlson

Started the day with the presentation by Stephen Abram regarding Cool Technologies for PR. He is such a dynamic speaker and I came away entertained and partially exhausted thinking about all of the ways I should be doing by job better. He was very inspiring!

The PR Swap and Shop was a good venue for picking up ideas for various types of printed PR. There was an awards ceremony for various categories of PR including newsletters, web pages, general brochures, etc. It was great to see how other libraries are getting their message out.

Finally the @ your library campaign presentation was very informative of the support that ALA can give regarding PR materials. There are various toolkits for different types of libraries and some new initiatives for promotion ideas such as for the Hispanic market. It’s nice to know that these programs are available.

Read the previous post about the Shining Stars presentation. I helped to do that presentation with Abby Williams from Bloomingdale. If anyone else went, I would be interested to know any other comments, thanks!
