How have you dealt with problem behavior in the library?
Every library has its share of problem patrons. They are all ages. They do all kinds of things to annoy other library users and the library staff. What’s your perspective on dealing with these patrons?
Have you changed the arrangement of the building? Moved collections? Restricted access?
Have you turned the energy of misbehavior (among teens, or voluble seniors, or snooty storytime moms) into something positive?
You are invited to share your ideas with your colleagues in the “Perspectives” column of Public Libraries, the PLA journal. Perspectives essays are 1000 words +/-. Photos are welcome. E-mail your essay (as a Word document attachment) by May 1 to
Thanks in advance!
