The PLA Service Responses team, headed by Sandra Nelson, has decided to extend the PLA Service Responses discussion past today’s cutoff to Friday, November 3, 2006.

New comments are being posted everyday for nearly every post in the discussion. Here are the numbers as of this morning:

The popularity of some of the posts — gaming, technology, and basic literacy particularly — is not surprising, it’s interesting to note which discussions are relatively quiet. If any of the discussions with 9 comments or less are of great interest to you, now’s the time for you to get in there and add your input.

Some of the new issues not yet addressed in the current service responses that have been proposed by our readers include:

  • Providing services for recreational reading / Readers’ advisory
  • Podcasts
  • Children
  • Re-examining the term “service response”

The commentary overall has been interesting, stimulating, and very smart. If you haven’t taken a look at the discussion yet, take advantage of the extension to put in your two cents. See the PLA Service Responses discussion index for more information about the service responses and how you can help.
