Cohen+ Library Gets Reacquainted With Its Collection - (from The Iowa Channel) - “Some of the findings include a bevy of bookmarks, biography and history books and library-related ornaments and artifacts. There’s also a large collection of photographs, such as a proposal for the Grand Avenue river bridge and artwork that depict how Des Moines was or could have been. “Some of these things haven’t seen the light of day for a while,” said Jan Kaiser, marketing coordinator.”
+ Friends help behind the scenes - (from Plano Star Courier) - “Bookshelves, computer terminals and readers snatching their favorite book often form the image of Plano’s public library system. Though those images are reflect reality, behind the scenes, the Friends of the Plano Public Library are providing a combination of donation, moral support and volunteer hours helping libraries.”
+ Parents of Lockerbie victim donate $100,000 for new library - (from Philly Burbs) - “The parents of a woman killed aboard an airplane blown up by Libyan terrorists over Lockerbie, Scotland, donated $100,000 toward a new library in her hometown. Beth Ann Johnson, 21, was a Seton Hill College student returning from studying in London when the Pan Am airliner was brought down by a bomb in December 1988.”

Mencken Came to the Defense of the Enoch Pratt Library - (from The Baltimore Chronicle and Sentinel) - “Among the numerous public libraries in the United States the Enoch Pratt Free Library, the Maryland State Library Resource Center, remains one of the crown jewels for researchers nationwide.”
+ Jefferson County libraries offer services via Internet - (from WKRN) - “Public library patrons in Jefferson County can now access genealogy and business-oriented databases from home or work. The nonprofit Jeffersoun County Library Cooperative recently added the services for 19 cities in the county.”
