On my way

All these introductions, so I’m adding mine. I’m Gina and I’m the Networking Consultant at the Idaho State Library. I am embracing my inner geek by writing this from the airport as I wait to board my flight. Many thanks to the Boise Airport for their free wireless and to the ISL system administrator and management for making it possible to have the tools (laptops and wireless network cards) to function this way.

This is my 10th ALA Annual Conference. I went to my first the year I started library school. I’ve only missed one–and I’m sure I had a note from my doctor for that one. For those attending for the first time, my advice is to enjoy the experience and breathe so as not to be overwhelmed by the crowds. Take in what you can, but plan some down time so you can absorb and process what you see and learn.

I’m looking forward to blogging for PLA. My focus at this conference appears to lean heavily toward resource sharing and the future of library services. In addition to the PLA Blog, I will be contributing to the Idaho State Library’s blog to keep Idaho libraries informed of what’s happening with ALA.
