Spring Symposium Wrap-Up

I’d like to thank everyone who helped make the 2005 Spring Symposium such a success. The speakers, program organizers, guest authors (Alex Kotlowitz and Lawrence Block), and attendees all contributed to a very exciting learning experience. Nearly 800 library professionals attended the PLA Symposium this year with half of the attendees from out of state, and participants joining us from as far away as Hawaii, and international guests from Mexico, Canada, and Bermuda. Attendees enjoyed the many opportunities that the Spring Symposium offers including exposure to an array of exciting programming, stimulating speakers, and plenty of occasions to meet and share ideas with colleagues from across the country. I hope you’re making plans to attend other PLA continuing education opportunities including programming at ALA conferences; the first-ever PLA Boot Camp – A Five-Day Immersion Program; a one-day New Managing for Results Workshop; and the upcoming Eleventh National Conference, “PLA 2006,” which will be held March 21-25, 2006, in Boston, and of course our next Spring Symposium, scheduled for March of 2007. Visit www.pla.org for more information about PLA. Also be sure to check the blog occasionally, we’re working on a continuous blog presence, but we’ll definitely be blogging the upcoming ALA Annual Conference. – Clara N. Bohrer, PLA President, 2004-2005
