I’d like to officially welcome you to the PLA Blog. Thanks for stopping by. This week, we will kick off the blog at ALA Midwinter with reports from over 10 librarian bloggers (some are new to the blogging realm and others have been doing it for a while). The goal here is to be able to cover as many public library-related events as possible, written from different perspectives. This community-wide effort is a first by a national library association. I’d like to thank PLA for making this happen.
Over the course of this week, our team will be introducing themselves to you. We want to make this as personal as possible, with you getting to know the bloggers that are reporting on the meeting. We think this makes the blog more appealing. Also, we will not only be bringing you written posts, but pictures from all over the conference center.
There will be more features added to the site as we go along, but for now, sit back, grab the feed (for more information on what to do with that orange button, check out this tutorial from the Librarian’s Index to the Internet), and we’ll catch up in Boston.
One more note: If you will be blogging at the ALA Midwinter meeting, please let me know (stevenmcohen [at] gmail [dot] com) as I will be attempting to build an online aggregator of all the blog posts from the conference. This may or may not work. I’m going to need your help in letting me know that you are going to be in Boston. Librarians build communities, don’t we?

Dear Bloggers, Well thanks for forcing me into setting up a blog in order to post here!! I’m trying to figure out what is a must do for a public reference librarian (other than the exhibits), have you bloggers any great tips before things get rolling? It’s great that you’re doing this! Jill
