Pros/Cons of Being a Local Attendee: Pros include enhanced familiarity with the location, restaurants, getting around — it takes care of lots of the pre-work that you do when you’re going to a conference in an unfamiliar city. Cons include that sometimes it’s just more fun to go to a new place, or to see a city you’ve been to before in a new way. It can also just be more convenient to stay at a hotel close to all the action, as opposed to commuting from home.
