I am on a borrowed PC for just a mo’ so I’ll have to wait until later to post a picture of LITA’s indispensible Mary Taylor wearing a button with the funniest geek logo I’ve ever seen: “Valid and Well-formed.” XML humor–who knew?
This morning’s LITA board meeting may not sound like the world’s most thrilling blog entry, but give me a moment. We had a discussion with Sherri of ALA tech staff about the new online community software to be implemented sometime in 2005. You know how I grouse and gripe on Free Range Librarian about ALA not supporting work online? This software (which has to be implemented, configured, tested, etc.) looks as if it could support many of the virtual activities we want to do. It’s no easy task to put ALA work online; for one thing, we have some very important requirements, such as ensuring meetings are open. Among other features, the online community software will support the ability to virtually observe a virtual meeting. Nifty calendar functions, too. Cool beans!
